It’s been cold and snowy here in the Southeastern part of Pennsylvania, but we’re still managing to get some tennis in when we can! This winter, we’ve been running programs at ACAC, Collegium Charter School, Morgantown Community Church, Valley Forge Elementary School, and United Sports Training Center. There have even been a few warm days where I’ve been able to get outside for a few outdoor lessons! Here is an update on our winter programs
ACAC – A new session just started up last weekend. The largest group is definitely the 5-6 year old group, which has 14 kids. They were a lot of fun and were all very excited to learn tennis. We also have good groups for our 7-8 year olds, 9-10 year olds, and our Friday 3-4 year old group.
Collegium Charter School – The classes at Collegium just keep growing and growing. The 10 and under class started with around 8 and now its around 15. The 12 and under class started at 4 and is now at 15 as well. Needless to say, most of our staff is kept pretty busy on Sundays with these fun groups!
Valley Forge Elementary – With the help of another local coach (Marjie Elliott), we’ve been able to run after school programs at Valley Forge on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. They’re always an enthusiastic bunch and its a lot of fun to teach them.
Morgantown – Justin and I have had fun running clinics at the Morgantown Community Church as well. It’s a totally new location for tennis and the kids are all enjoying learning the strokes and games. We’re halfway done with this session, but we’re looking forward to hopefully continuing with clinics, camps and leagues in this area.
USTC – We run a high school clinic at USTC every Tuesday, featuring a lot of Just Tennis regulars. The focus has been on volleying, footwork, doubles positioning, and other high school related skills. This past Tuesday, we had a few players from the Westtown School come out to drill as well. With the addition of the Westtown players and Westtown boys coach Tom Haviland, this clinic is really expanding and is a great indoor option for these cold winter months.
The warm weather will hopefully be here soon! But until then, we’ll keep up our indoor programming.
