The Southeastern Pennsylvania air is starting to get a bit cooler these days, but the Just Tennis Junior Team Tennis Fall Season is in full swing, with 8 JTT teams strongly represented in the Exton area.
What is Junior Team Tennis? Junior Team Tennis is a unique and exciting format that brings a team dynamic to youth tennis, and Southeastern PA is a great place to utilize this dynamic.
Many young players around here grow up learning and enjoying the game together, whether in our PATTA leagues, in local recreation programs and clinics, or by simply going to the same school. With our JTT teams, our players can enjoy tennis with friends they’ve made through the sport and of course, make new ones as well
With fun, fast paced practices occurring in the local confines of Miller Park, Meadowbrook Manor Park and the Rhondda Community Courts, and matches spanning all over the local Chester County area, our 8 teams are getting tons of post-summer outdoor play. Here is a brief summation of our teams. Please note the Star Wars theme 🙂
Just Tennis 10U Light Sabers – This team features some solid young talent from the Exton area and utilizes the 10 and under match play format. Madie and Paige are becoming a tight knit doubles team (and getting tons of singles experience as well) and the boys on the team are all mixing around and making new tennis friends in the process. It’s great to watch kids this age form rallies and enjoy the sport. They really learn a lot about sportsmanship and self management out there.
Just Tennis 12U: The Exton Strikes Back – A solid team that combines some of our athletic young veterans (Luke and Jason), some up and coming, constantly improving players (Ana, Elizabeth, Sean, etc), and some new faces that bring a solid contribution to the team (Abhinav). They’ve pulled out some big wins this season so far and continue to play better and better as a team each weekend. By the end of the season, they’ll be a very cohesive tennis powerhouse!
Just Tennis 14: Return of the Just Tennis – Some of our most dedicated players joined forces here (notice another Star Wars reference?) to bring a whole new element of consistency to the JTT format. Sophie and Ainsley have lots of experience playing together and are having a successful season at doubles. They’re always so positive and supportive out there. Players such as Brandon, Christian and Tim bring a new level of intensity and excitement to the team, and their desire to win is fun to watch; long points, fist pumps, and all. Amongst everyone else, consistency seems to be the common factor.
Just Tennis 14: Exton Force – This is team mixes newcomers with program veterans and contains some powerhouses, especially with the girls. Sammy and Rupa bring an exciting level of power, point construction and rallying ability to the team, while Meghana and Rhea utilize their consistency. Andrew, Jacob, Maanas and Aditya and the rest of this team provide some solid shotmaking as well.
Just Tennis 18: Exton Jedi Mind Tricks – A young, up and coming group of potential Downingtown East players round out this all male team. In the spring, they’ll all be fighting for spots on the DEHS roster, so this experience playing together and utilizing each others strengths will be great for their development. Dan’s speed, Ash’s forehand, Jeff’s backhand, and Matt’s penetrating groundstrokes provide a solid foundation for these guys.
Just Tennis 18: Downingtown Beast: Features some big hitting doubles players who will be key contributors to the Downingtown East squad this spring. It’s a nice mix of doubles specialists and aspiring singles players. With their mix of shotmaking and athleticism, they should be able to earn some solid wins this fall.
Just Tennis 18: Attack of the Just Tennis – This is a combination of some of our West Chester/Exton Players as well as some of the players we’ve coached in the Oxford area. Although they don’t have much experience playing with each other, it’s all starting to gel and their patience and mental strength is allowing them to consistently contend in recent matches. Last weekend there were a lot of tiebreak sets in their match!
Just Tennis 18: The Phantom Tennis: Aka the “Freshman Team.” This team gathers some of our up and coming freshmen who will be playing for various local schools. It provides them with an opportunity to not only play with and meet other freshman, but also to see what the next level looks like. Some of these teams are quite powerful, boasting varsity level talent, and it’s great for these players to see this.
We have 4 more weeks of matches, so we’re really in the heart of our season now. Come on out and support your Just Tennis teams! We’re all over the Exton area and beyond every Saturday afternoon
May the force be with you!
